Annie was born February 19, 1920 in Thomasville, GA to the late Perry Shepherd and Effie Anna Gaddy Shepherd. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Dewey Keller Hyde; second husband, James Self; daughters: Anne Ringer and Elaine Carter; grandson, Shawn Ringer; siblings: Louise Clem, Daisy Mitchell, Hubert Shepherd, Harry Shepherd, and Sarah Taylor.

As a lifelong member of First Baptist Centerville, she enjoyed serving her church and her community. Her church family was just that... family. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was the most faithful of servants, always ministering to others and encouraging them to know Him the way she did.  Love was at the heart of her home, and she was happiest with a table full of family and friends.  Annie enjoyed cooking for those she loved and spending time after in her living room or on her front porch talking and laughing. If you met her, you wouldn't forget her, and if you loved her, you were blessed. She touched so many lives, in ways even she didn't know.  Gardening and birdwatching brought her such joy. She loved working in the yard and nothing thrilled her more than the first bloom of the season or the first baby bird to fly the nest.  "All God's handiwork," she would say.  She loved her hats, each with a different personality, and always looked pretty as a picture.  But it was her smile, her laugh, and the kindness in her heart that will be remembered.  Annie was a loving, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all her knew her.

Annie is survived by her cherished grandchildren: Derek Carter, Kenneth Carter, Debbie Hemphill, Mark Ringer, and Kristl Ringer; great grandchildren: Tonya Carter Dupree, Jinny Carter Allen, Corey Carter, Kaleb Carter, Tyler Carter, Laycee Williams, Brooklyn Palmer, Devon Ringer, Paige Ringer, Trent Ringer, Dillon Hemphill, and Stone Hemphill; great great grandchildren: Dawson, Riley, Hudson, Wyatt, Greyson, and Ryan; siblings: Nell Morris, Doris Kalenian; sister in law, Jo Shepherd.
