Obituary of Mary Haygood

Mrs. Mary Haygood, 67, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, June 28, 2023. A celebration of her life will be held at Rain Church, Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Clint Johns officiating. The friends are welcome to greet the family at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Friday, July 7, 2023 between 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request that donations please be made to Autism Society, 6110 Executive Blvd, Suite 305, Rockville, MD 20852.

Mary was born in Elmira, NY to the late William and Viola Galpin on September 22, 1955. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons, David Campbell and John Haygood; granddaughter, Stormy Haygood.

Mary devoted her life to serving her Lord and Savior. She was an active member at Rain Church where she enjoyed listening to the joyful hymns and scriptures. Mary even traveled to Germany and enjoyed going to Sunday School class and the Single Adult Advisor. Most importantly, Mary enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and friends. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mary is survived by her cherished husband of 42 years, James Haygood, Jr., children; Mary (Jean) Menard, William Haygood, James Haygood, and Kevin (Kelly) Haygood; 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Neal Galpin, Tom Galpin, Lucy Giroux, Fran Galpin, Pete Galpin, and Marty Galpin, and a host of extended friends and family.
