Obituary of Mary Esther Middleton Rowland

Mary Esther Middleton Rowland, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 9, 2023. A celebration of her life will be held in the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Friday July 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Andy Pickens officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Friday, July 14, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A private graveside service will be held at Westview Cemetery. Flowers are accepted by the family, or, the family respectfully request that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3040 Riverside Drive, Macon, GA 31210.

Esther was born on March 17, 1941 in Macon, GA to the late Emmett and Jewel Middleton. In addition to her parents, Esther is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Claxton Rowland; siblings:  Robert Middleton, David Middleton, Margaret Calhoun, and Ella Garrett. 
Esther dedicated her life to serving her family. She was delightful and took great pride in taking care of her family. Esther enjoyed cooking a true southern meal, and having everyone gathered around her dinner table. She also enjoyed spending time working outside in the yard. Esther was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Esther is survived by her children, Mary Jane (Gerald Bond) Ferguson, Sandra (Johnny) Horton, and Beverly (Jesse Burkhalter) Jackson; grandchildren: Johnny (Maribel) Owens, Cody (Katie) Horton, Austin (Andrea) Jackson, and Brooke Burkhalter; grand angel: Amy Ahlheit; great grandchildren: Johnny Owens, Zoe Horton, and Jack Horton; siblings: Betty Thomas, Helen Leach, and Vera Cook; and a host of extended family and friends.
