William was born August 13, 1931 in Lumber City, Georgia to the late John W, Sr. and Annie Brewer Stapleton. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War. William continued to serve as a civil servant on Robins Air Force Base for thirty-eight years. William was a charter member and Deacon of Green Acres Baptist Church where he served in various ministries. His many talents included the ability to build or repair anything from electric motors and vehicles to woodworking and building his own workshop. William loved his family, his country, and his church and went out of his way to express his kind generosity. He had a special love for children and animals and they gravitated toward him. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and everyone who knew him will miss him.

In addition to his parents, his siblings: Myrtle Wood, Hudson Stapleton, Inez Evans, and Wiley Stapleton precede William in death.

William is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Faye Stapleton; children: William Randall Stapleton of Lawrenceville; Cyndee Stapleton O’Quinn of Warner Robins; his favorite grandson, Sean Michael McGraw (Rebekah) of Warner Robins; sister, Catherine Smith of Glenwood; many beloved nieces and nephews and in-laws.
