Obituary of John Micek

MSgt. John Paul Micek, USAF (Ret.), 92, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, December 14th, 1:00PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following the service, John will be laid to rest next to his wife of 46 years, Rita Peerless Micek in the Parkway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Father Fred Nijem will officiate. A Rosary will be said with a visitation to follow at 12:00 noon on Thursday, one hour before the service at the church.

John was born December 26, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Joseph John and Mary Ann Micek. He grew up working on the family's dairy farm in Michigan up until he joined the military. John served his country proudly for over twenty-two years in the United States Air Force. After his military service, John continued to serve his country as a civil servant at Robins Air Force Base for nineteen years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and he liked to spend his spare time as a Ham radio operator and repairing electronic equipment. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and everyone who knew him will miss him and his sweet nature.

In addition to his wife and parents, John's daughter, Sharon Strickler and sister, Genevieve Riley precede him in death.

John is survived by his children: Paul D. (Krista) Micek, Gerald A. Micek, and Susan Y. (Nipper Hankinson) Micek; grandchildren: Stuart, Ron, Colin, Ian, and Brooklyn; seven great grandchildren; and special family friend, Terri Micek.

In lieu of flower, the family requests to have donations made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 300 S Davis Dr. Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
