Obituary of Mrs. Roberta "Joyce" Benson Taylor
Mrs. Roberta "Joyce" Benson Taylor, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior February 20, 2024. A celebration of her life will be held at The Salvation Army Church on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM. The committal service will immediately follow at Parkway Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
Joyce was born on May 4, 1938 to the late Glenn and Ida Caplinger Benson in Washington, D.C. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, John W. Benson and son, James P. Carter, Jr.
Joyce dedicated her life to serving her community, family, and the Lord. She retired as a civil servant after numerous years of hard work and determination. She enjoyed spending time at her church, The Salvation Army Church, listening to joyful hymns and reading the Lord's Scripture. She also served as the treasurer and pianist of The Salvation Army Church. Joyce was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda (Lonnie) Taylor; granddaughters, Paige (Jarrod) Poole and Lisa (Mark) Simon; grandson, William Taylor; brother, Glenn (Lois) Benson; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
